Get Involved

Many families come to NCSSM wanting to contribute to their students hall community, which we encourage! Opportunities range from snacks during hall meetings to birthday celebrations! Also, there will be opportunities to supply items for various hall activities outside of the regularly scheduled weekly events. If you would like to help, we have a place for you on 3rd West!

Hall Food

There's something about food that brings a community together and that's no different on 3rd West. Hall food is a weekly event occurring during hall meetings where hall members enjoy food together while catching up  with their hallmates. In non-COVID years, this has taken many different forms and is up to families as to what they wish to provide for the hall, as long as their is enough for the 36 students on hall to get some.

You can provide any manner of things for snack and our hall wish list (detailed below) has lots of ideas.  You can also send homemade items or things not on our wish list. Hall snack is not meant to be a meal, but if you want to send something from a local restaurant such as Pomodoro's, Chick-Fil-A,  or Papa Johns, I can work with you to arrange pickup or delivery.

Parent/guardians can sign up for a time to provide hall snack here.  Food allergies and dietary restrictions will be shared once students have arrived. Sign up for hall snack here.

Hall Wish List

Each month, the hall will have a minimum of 12 activities and many of these will need supplies.  We have created an Amazon wish list of items for the hall.  It includes supplies for hall events for the upcoming month, individually wrapped snacks, and fun items for the hall to keep and use for years to come.   The snacks on the wish list can be ordered for hall snack on Monday nights or can be sent for other events (like our weekly snack and chat discussion event).  I will be adding to the list on a monthly basis, so be sure to check back in often.  When an item is purchased from the list it is automatically removed and will be sent to my school address.  The hall wish list can be found here.

Hall Birthday Celebrations

While our hall does not hold monthly or weekly birthday celebrations, Alex is happy to work with you to plan a way for the hall to celebrate your student's birthday.  He can facilitate the collection of birthday cakes, cup cakes, or special snacks from local places.  One place you may want to consider ordering from is Pincho Loco, a local  ice cream and desserts shop run by the family of an NCSSM Alum.

I  will also post notices of student birthdays on the hall calendar with the permission of the student.
